Updates: 2022 Sharpshooter Event

The 2022 HCSO Foundation’s annual Sharpshooters Team Challenge event took place on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Athena Gun Club where supporters of the HCSO Foundation and marksmen gathered to determine which law enforcement agency and civilian teams would earn the title and bragging rights as the 2022 Champions.
The event kicked off with special acknowledgements including:

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez was recognized as the 2022 Professional Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award by the HCSO Foundation for his continued commitment as a professional law enforcement officer and leadership of the HCSO during the recent challenging times and increased violent crime within Harris County, Texas.
Benjamin Richter received a “Special Commendation” by the HCSO Foundation for his stewardship and dedication to the HCSO’s Leadership Development Institute (LDI), the LDI is designed to advance HCSO Leaders at all levels of leadership through the commitment to servant and community-based leadership.
A special guest, “FBI John” Iannarelli, was acknowledged for his continued work to educate the public regarding current events encompassing law enforcement investigations and initiatives. John was an FBI Special Agent for more than 20 years during which time he served as the FBI’s National Spokesperson and was a member of the FBI Cyber Division Executive Staff, on the FBI SWAT team and as an Assistant Special Agent in Charge of overseeing all Criminal, Cyber and Counterintelligence Investigations. An author and frequent on-air law enforcement contributor for the national news media, John offers expertise and perspective in regard to many current events affecting law enforcement initiatives.
2022 Sharpshooters Team Challenge Winners
For the Professional Law Enforcement agency Team Challenge Competition:
For the first time since the inception of the LEO agency competition, Team HCSO was replaced as the annual LEO champion by Team Houston Police Department for the Grand Champion professional law enforcement sharpshooters team title taking home the perpetual team award to display at their agency until the 2023 event.
Team Harris County Constable Office Precinct 3 held their title for Second Place for the third consecutive year, and Team Harris County Constable Office Precinct 4 finished on the podium with Third Place.
For the Civilian Team Challenge Competition:
Team Bravo was awarded 1st Place, Team Top Gun was awarded 2nd Place, and Team The Plank Companies 3rd Place.








Thank you to all who joined in support of this year’s event! Funds raised will benefit the HCSO Foundation for the donation of additional specialized training and equipment for the deputies of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
